Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
hoppit ("hoppit", "we", "us") is a social habit-challenge app operated by an
individual based in British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains what personal information
we collect, how we use it, and your choices — consistent with Canada's PIPEDA and British
Columbia's PIPA.
Information we collect
Account information
- Email address — from Sign in with Apple, Google, or email sign-in. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we only receive Apple's private relay address.
- Display name and, if you sign in with Google, your profile photo.
- Authentication identifiers from your sign-in provider.
Preferences
- Language preference and time zone (used to schedule your daily check-in deadline).
Content you create
- Check-in photos and short videos, captured only through the in-app camera.
- Comments, emoji reactions, pokes, goals, and streaks within your groups.
Device & usage information
- A push-notification token, so we can send you reminders and social notifications.
- Basic usage data, such as which check-ins you have viewed and related timestamps.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: daily check-ins, groups, streaks, and notifications.
- To personalize your experience (for example, greeting you by name).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To communicate with you (push notifications and, for email sign-in, one-time codes).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Check-in photos and videos are ephemeral. They are deleted from storage when your group's day settles, with a 24-hour backstop — so your check-in media is not retained beyond about a day.
- Account information and social metadata (streaks, reactions, comments) are kept while your account is active.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). We deactivate it immediately and permanently erase your personal data within 30 days. You can also email us at support@hoppit.app.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate hoppit — for example, cloud
hosting and databases, media storage and content delivery, push-notification delivery, sign-in,
and email delivery. They may process your information only as needed to provide these services to
us, and some may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), authenticated access, and
access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to
protect your information.
Children
hoppit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we
will delete it.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, or delete your personal information, and
withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, use the in-app account controls or email
support@hoppit.app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above
when we do.
